Conflict is an inescapable part of human life and yet handling it is no simple matter. How often in schools are issues and situations left unresolved-perhaps getting more troublesome as time passes. Such issues create undue amounts of stress in school systems. it need not be like this. The ecl programme, originating from the UK have developed systems and tools to assist and enhance in children’s emotional and academic development. I am pleased to welcome the arrival of ecl programme in South Africa and look forward to implementing this system into schools nationwide.
